Kenneth Usoro, 27

Nigeria

Kenneth is a Nigerian filmmaker and media advocate using storytelling as a tool for social change. As the Executive Director of The Colored Space, he creates safe and expressive environments where marginalised young people can tell their stories through film and photography.

His work focuses on amplifying youth voices, challenging harmful narratives, and promoting child safety and well-being through creative advocacy. Kenneth believes that storytelling has the power to shift systems, inspire empathy, and build communities where every child is seen, heard, and protected.

What inspires your work on ending childhood sexual violence?

I am inspired by the resilience of children and young people whose stories are often silenced or misunderstood. Seeing how storytelling can shift narratives and spark change drives me to create work that amplifies their voices and challenges systems that allow harm to continue.

Share one highlight from your experience in the SPROUT Fellowship

A key highlight was finding a community of young leaders who deeply understand this work. Through honest conversations and shared learning, I gained confidence in my voice and built meaningful connections that continue to shape how I lead, collaborate, and show up in my work.
